Standing with Ukraine, Four Years on
Four years ago, Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine escalated into a full-scale war. On February 24th, 2022, the world watched as the invasion unfolded in real time, reshaping daily life and demanding extraordinary resilience from millions of Ukrainians.
What began as a single moment of global shock has become a sustained reality of loss, endurance, and courage that continues to define life in Ukraine today
And still, Ukraine stands.
For those watching from afar, the war may feel distant. For Ukrainians, it is not. It lives in the body and nervous system, in families adapting constantly to loss, fear, and uncertainty. It lingers long after the sirens fade.
Soldiers remain on the front lines. Parents continue caring for their children. Clinicians keep showing up for patients. Communities hold one another together under pressure that few outside the country truly understand.
HUT was created in the earliest weeks of the full-scale invasion because survival alone was never enough. Healing is required during the war and long after it ends. For the past four years, we have worked alongside our Ukrainian partners to support veterans, military families, and children with evidence-based mental health care, even amid air raids, blackouts, and displacement.
This anniversary is a reminder that trauma does not resolve on its own. Without care and treatment, it lingers, shaping families, communities, and the future of the country itself.
As Ukraine enters its fifth year of full-scale war, continued support matters. Healing takes time. It takes skilled local providers. And it takes people willing to support Ukraine not only in moments of crisis, but in the long work of recovery.
“Our work is only possible because people choose to stand with Ukraine. It is an honor to stand alongside Ukrainian Defenders and their families, and to support their healing. This is important work, and HUT is deeply grateful to be part of it.”
